China Unicom to Cooperate with State Postal Bureau

China Unicom signed an agreement with the State Postal Bureau (SPB) of China in Beijing on February 16 to carry out an all-round cooperation in the fields of market expansion, complementarity of resources, business agency and development, technical support and others.

The strategic cooperation of combining the advantages of China Unicom's market prosperity and the marketing network of the SPB will provide society with better service and consumers with more convenience as well as benefits.

China Unicom has seen rapid development in recent years and currently it has over 20 million users of mobile phone and 50 million users of wireless pagers and maintains a good momentum of long-distance call, data, internet and IP telephone.

However, its marketing network is comparatively small and incomplete and the SPB's 66,000 business outlets and distribution institutions in more than 1,200 cities have made it possible for the two to cooperate.

It's reported that this cooperation will focus on the use of SPB numerous business outlets to handle various businesses and collect business fees for China Unicom. Furthermore, the two parties will connect their relevant business and supporting systems to handle business of, and give preferential price to, the other party.
