Spain's United Left Condemns US-British Airstrike Against Iraq

Spain's third largest political party United Left organized a gathering at US. embassy in Spain Sunday to protest against US-British airstrike against Iraq Friday.

Gaspar Llamazares, general coordinator of United Left, condemned the airstrike as an "aggression." He said that the military action was totally unjust and couldn't be supported by any international law.

He also urged the Spanish government and international organizations to "condemn" the US and British bombing.

More than a hundred of Madrid citizens joined the protest, among whom are some Iraqi children living in Spain. They held banners reading "Killing Iraqi Children Are Imperialist Brutality. "

US and British warplanes launched an airstrike Friday evening against Iraqi military targets south of Baghdad, the first against Iraqi command sites outside the southern no-fly zone since December 1998.
