Red Cross Repatriates 707 Ethiopians From Eritrea
A total of 707 Ethiopians including 218 prisoners of war (POW) have left Eritrea in the past three days for Ethiopia under the auspices of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), an ICRC press release said Saturday.
The operation took place between the Eritrean town of Adi Quala and the Ethiopian town of Rama via the Mereb river, added the release.
Ahead of the repatriation, according to the release, the ICRC delegates in Eritrea held private interviews with the internees to check their wish to return to their motherland.
The ICRC since last December has repatriated more than 6,100 Ethiopians from Eritrea, and also on Saturday, the ICRC repatriated 14 Eritreans back to their homes from Ethiopia, according to the release.
