PLA Chief of General Staff Meets Pakistani Guests

China and Pakistan enjoy good momentum for development of relations in various fields, including the military field, said Fu Quanyou, chief of General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) in Beijing Saturday.

Fu, also a member of the Central Military Commission, spoke highly of the relations between the armed forces of the two countries, while he met with Mushaf Ali Mir, chief of staff of the Pakistani Air Force.

Fu expressed belief that the relations between the two countries' armed forces will be furthered in the new century.

Fu said that China and Pakistan are close neighbors, and the two countries have maintained good cooperation in the political, economic, and other fields since they forged diplomatic ties 50 years ago.

He reaffirmed China's stance on the Taiwan issue.

Mushaf said that Pakistan will, as always, adhere to the One- China principle, and wishes China to achieve the complete reunification of the motherland at an early date.

He expressed the belief that the two countries and their armed forces will enhance cooperation in various fields in the new century.
