Chinese President Removes and Appoints Ambassadors

Chinese President Jiang Zemin removed and appointed the following ambassadors according to decisions made by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress:

Removed as ambassadors of the People's Republic of China were:

- Li Zhaoxing, from his post in the United States of America

- Zhao Jiahua, from the Lao People's Democratic Republic

- Fu Xuezhang, from the Kingdom of Thailand

- An Yongyu, from the Republic of Kenya

- Hua Liming, from the Kingdom of Netherlands

- Li Jianying, from the Republic of Surinam

Appointed as ambassadors of the People's Republic of China were:

- Yang Jiechi, to the United States of America

- Liu Zhengxiu, to the Lao People's Democratic Republic

- Yan Ting'ai, to the Kingdom of Thailand

- Du Qiwen, to the Republic of Kenya

- Zhu Zushou, to the Kingdom of Netherlands

- Hu Shouqin, to the Republic of Surinam
