The rate of intended purchase of private cars in the 22 cites in 2001 will see a big increase due to the wide choice of new family cars like Sail and Xiali 2000 as well as people's anticipation of a price reduction for cars after China's entry into the WTO. About 2.1 percent of people intend to buy mini-cars, 1.5 percentage points high than last year, and the purchase amount is expected to rise by 239 percent; 1.2 percent of people will be inclined to buy mini-buses, therefore the purchase amount is anticipated to rise by 128 percent. The purchase intent rate of all types of cars will total 4.8 percent. Then, about 64-billion-yuan will be spent on purchasing 890,000 cars for private use in the 22 cities in 2001.
