China to Found Electronic Enterprise Group

Minister of Information Industry Wu Jichuan announced Friday that China will found an enterprise group of electronic technologies this year.

Wu released at a working conference of information industry that about four to five Chinese electronic enterprises will prepare for listing abroad this year, and the government expects that one or two of them will succeed.

As technological innovation is the key to the industry's development, the sector will aim to make breakthroughs in vital technologies and do a good job of carrying out the major national technological innovation projects, Wu said.

The technological level of China's information industry greatly improved last year, with achievements in the research of super computers, parallel computing technologies, 64-bit Chinese computer operating systems and 32-bit digital information processors.

And the TD-SCDMA mobile telecom standards developed independently by China have been approved by the International Telecom Union as the third generation mobile telecom standards, he said.
