Chinese Vice Premier Meets Overseas Chinese Delegation

Chinese Vice-premier Qian Qichen on Friday met with a visiting delegation of Overseas Chinese Associations in Europe at Zhongnanhai, the compound of the central government.

Qian, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, expressed a warm welcome to the delegation.

Qian spoke highly of the contributions made by overseas Chinese in promoting China's peaceful reunification and said he expected members of the delegation to continue their efforts to push forward the relationship across the Taiwan Strait.

The delegation, headed by Yuan-Shao Hu and consisting of deputies of major Chinese associations in European countries, arrived here on Wednesday.

It will also visit Shanghai, Hangzhou and the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions after their Beijing tour.
