China Concerned over Israel-Palestine Clashes

China is deeply concerned over the violent clashes between Israel and Palestine and urges the two sides to exercise restraints, foreign ministry spokesman Zhu Bangzao said Thursday.

"We have noticed that the Israel-Palestine violent clashes are still going on and a series of malignant terrorist incidents have taken place recently, worsening the security situation," he said, adding "We are deeply concerned over this."

Zhu made the comment at a regular press conference in Beijing in response to a reporter's question concerning the terrorist incidents that have taken place in Israel and the West Bank.

"At present, the Middle East peace process is facing a serious test," he said. "We hope Israel and Palestine would exercise restraints and stop violent actions so as to create a good atmosphere for the resumption of peace negotiations," he said.
