The Reason I Deserted Cult: Confession of Former Falun Gong Practitioner
"I felt ashamed to be a Falun Gong practitioner after I had realized the evil nature of the cult, " said Xue Shanghong when repenting her past ordeal.
Used to be an accountant at the Beipiao Bureau of Mines in Liaoning Province, northeast China, Xue, 47, was lured to join the Falun Gong cult to "improve" her health.
Although stricken by a disease, she never went to see a doctor for her illness once she became infatuated in the Falun Gong fallacy, following what Li Hongzhi advocated.
"Once I had joined Falun Gong, I no longer helped people around me as I had been willing to do before. I was just concerned about how I could ascend to heaven", Xue recalled her past life in deep contrition.
She has attended illegal parades and demonstrations along with other Falun Gong activists many times to propagate the heresy.
"My family, relatives and friends all worry about me. But I just turned a deaf ear to them every time when they tried to persuade me to quit the cult," she recalled.
"The fact is that Li schemed to control our minds, make people believe in everything he said as God's order," she said.
Bewitched in practicing Falun Gong, Xue didn't pay attention to her family and her work. Xue's husband was too angry and worried about her that he even fainted several times. "I was so selfish at that time that I proposed divorce with him".
"I brought too much torture to people around me when I was in full pursuit of so-called virtue as Li Hongzhi has imbued, never listening to others' dissuasion", Xue repented, "but I've come to understand now that what I've managed to seek is not real benevolence".
"I was deeply shocked and frightened while watching those Falun Gong victims to set themselves on fire at Tian'anmen Square", said Xue, "I would fall into the same doom if I continued my belief in the evil fallacy".
Xue tried to compare Lei Feng and Kong Fansen, two examples of people who consider other's interests more than their own and always get ready to help others, with Li Hongzhi's hypocritical heresy.
Having managed to search her soul through study and meditation, Xue gradually found out that Li Hongzhi's doctrines are full of flaws and his preaching is sheer contradiction.
"Falun Gong has no effect in curing disease? Li Hongzhi said no participation in politics is allowed, but he himself enticed his votaries to organize demonstrations? I reaped no virtue but selfishness as a result of my practice," Xue concluded on what she finally realized.
"Now I'm worrying about all those Falun Gong-addicted victims, and I'll try to persuade them to stop the doing the wrong thing," Xue decided.
