Nanjing to Develop High-tech Zone

Nanjing, capital of south China's economically developed Jiangsu province, has decided to speed up the construction of its high-tech zone.

Nanjing will build the Zhujiang Road area, located in downtown Nanjing, into the nation's second largest high-tech zone next to Zhongguancun in Beijing, an official source said.

The 1,000-m long Zhujiang Road is the location for several prestigious universities, two national level high-tech parks and hundreds of computer and IT companies.

"We will build the Zhujiang Road area into the most important center for IT business and other high-tech sectors in east China," the official source said.

According to the source, throughout this year the entire trade volume of this area will reach 5.4 billion yuan (US$6.52 million).
