Mausoleum of Tang Emperor To Attract More Visitors
Northwest China's Shaanxi province has decided to invest 150 million yuan (about US$18 million) to build the Mausoleum of Emperor Li Shimin of the Tang Dynasty (618-907) into a big tourism attraction.
The mausoleum, called Tang Zhaoling, is located in Liquan county, some 100 km from Xi'an, the province's capital city.
Construction of the building began in 636 A.D. and has long been regarded as the most typical emperor's mausoleum of the Tang Dynasty.
The six stone carvings of horses discovered in the mausoleum are regarded by experts to be of high artistic value.
