China to Complete Draft of 1% Human Genome

China is now about to complete the working map of one percent of the human genome sequencing capacity. Through the initial 'decode' of the genome, there might be as estimated by Chinese scientists 150 to 200 genes in the one-hundredth area, that are related to the cardiovascular diseases and tumors or diseases of suchlike.

So far, the "basic information" of human genome has been announced. But how the work of decoding human genome is going on which was undertaken by China, one of the six participating countries of the Human Genome Project (HGP), has naturally come to be the spotlight arresting the attention of the people.

It's reported that the determined alkali light chain genes have taken up over 99 percent of the genome in this area and scientists have completed the assembling of 169 cloned segments with a precision of 99.99 percent. Only two segments are left for determining the sequences. The total sequence of the one-percent area, i.e. the working map is to be brought out soon.

Actually, Chinese scientists have fulfilled more than one percent of the task. At the request of their American colleagues they have extended their researches to the interior of No. 3 Chromosome, accomplished the determination of 29 cloned segments and about 4 million alkali light chain genes with 32 more genes found in this area.

The whole working map of the human genome will come to light this year according to the scheme of the International Cooperation Team of the Human Genome Project.
