Dying Giant Panda Rescued
A giant panda that was dying of hunger and illness was recently found near Chongzhou City in southwest China's Sichuan Province and sent to the Wolong Nature Preserve.
The panda was discovered by five forest rangers in a mountain range with an elevation of 1,500 meters on Sunday. They carried the panda to a nearby township and then sent it to the Wolong Nature Preserve for treatment. The senile Panda, aged 16 or 17, received a careful medical check-up in the preserve.
Tang Chunxiang, a veterinarian in charge, said the panda suffers from anemia and malnutrition. It was in a critical condition when it was sent to the preserve.
The panda was given protein and vitamins as well as medicine. It is expected to recover in two months and will be sent back to the nature.
