Slovak PM Meets Chinese State Councilor

Slovak Prime Minister Mikulas Dzurinda had talks Tuesday with visiting Chinese State Councilor Wu Yi on bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, Wu conveyed greetings and regards of Chinese Prime Minister Zhu Rongji to Dzurinda, who asked Wu to convey his thanks and greetings to Zhu.

China and Slovakia have deep traditional friendship, Wu noted, adding that bilateral political and economic relations have been developing smoothly since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1993.

Slovakia is an important country in central and eastern Europe, and China has always attached importance to bilateral cooperation in all fields, she said.

Dzurinda said that there is no obstacle in developing bilateral relations, and Slovakia is willing to develop relations with China in all aspects, especially in economy and trade.

He also reiterated Slovakia's "One China" policy.

Wu also met Slovak Foreign Minister Eduard Kukan on the same day.

Wu is scheduled to visit Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia and Romania after she concludes her four-day visit in Slovakia.
