Apple Updates Computer Models in China

Apple Computer Inc. Tuesday presented its slick titanium-gild handy laptop PowerBook G4, and other updated computer parts at a presentation press conference.

This signified the debut of Apple's 2001 hardware and software products on the Chinese market, said Vincent Tai, president of Apple (China).

Presented at today's demonstration stand was a one-inch thick PowerBook G4 laptop, which is equipped with a 500 MHz PowerPC G4 processor, 15.2 inch (diagonal line) screen and a computer cell with 5 hours rechargeable working ability.

Each of Apple's PowerBook G4 laptops and Power Mac G4 processors is installed with iTune and iMovie2 software, which can help users compile their collections of music and movie compact discs.

Among the new products on show, the iDVD is Apple's new chic software product. Apple will make package sales of the DVD software with Power Mac G4 processors. It will make household DVD recording possible.

As a world renowned personal computer provider, Apple has set up a favorable reputation on Chinese market. A market survey conducted by the China National Consumers' Association last year suggested that Apple was regarded as the third best foreign computer brand by Chinese consumers, after IBM and Compaq.
