Taliban Wants Peaceful, Political Solution to Osama Issue

Afghanistan's Taliban Ambassador to Pakistan Moulvi Abdul Salam Zaeef on Tuesday said the Taliban authorities wanted a peaceful and political solution to the Osama bin Laden issue.

Talking to newsmen here at a ceremony of dispatching relief assistance from Pakistan to the people of Afghanistan, he said the Taliban authorities respected the Islamic laws and wanted to solve the issue with Islamic principles, justice and dignity.

Zaeef said the Afghan nation was facing the U.S. pressure and UN sanctions with dignity.

He said, "Being a super power, the United States can destroy a country but has never bowed the Afghan nation with its pressure and sanctions."
