Steel Giant Boasts New Products

Anshan Iron and Steel Company (AISC), one of China's leading steel producers, in northeast China's Liaoning Province and once mired in difficulty, has recently received a large number of clients earnest to purchase its new type of cold-rolled steel.

Angang New Steel Company Ltd., a company affiliated to AISC, signed letters of intent concerned with 220,000 tons of the new type of cold-rolled steel last month with customers.

The new type of cold-rolled steel is a product of a device provided by Siemens Corporation of Germany. The equipment, with a scheduled yearly capacity of 1.5 million tons, was put into production last December and has yielded over 100,000 tons of cold-rolled steel since then.

Sources said that the steel is of high quality and at a world advanced level, widely used in the manufacturing of automobiles, household appliances, porcelain enamel and architecture.

Angang New Steel Company Ltd. was launched in 1997 by AISC and was listed on the Hong Kong and Shenzhen exchanges the same year. It is now one of the biggest producers of cold-rolled steel products in China.
