Japan Scholarship to Fund Students from West China

Japanese Kyocera Corporation has donated US$1 million to China Friendship, Peace and Development Foundation (CFPDF), to fund a scholarship for students from western China.

A ceremony for the donation, which was made through the China- Japan Friendship Association (CJFA), was held here Tuesday.

The sum of money is used to establish a scholarship for outstanding students in China's western areas.

Chen Haosu, president of the CFPDF, and Kazuo Inamori, honorary president of Kyocera Corporation, attended the ceremony.

Song Jian, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and president of the CJFA will meet with Kazuo Inamori later Tuesday.

Established in 1959, Japanese Kyocera Corporation is a pottery producer. The company has formed a network in China covering Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong.
