Zhejiang Aims to Upgrade Power Sector
Zhejiang
Province in China's eastern coast is to invest up to nine billion yuan (about US$1.1 billion) to upgrade its power sector this year to support the fast growing local economy.
Provincial electricity department officials said they will have an additional generating capacity of 600 thousand kilowatts and 228 kilometers of 500-kilovolt transmission line this year.
The province also plans to improve its power transmission networks in both urban and rural areas, and launch several large power projects to meet the increasing power needs.
