Macao SAR to Strengthen Legislative Contact with Motherland

The Legislative Council of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China will strengthen contact with the legislative bodies in the inland areas of the country, the Macao Daily News reported Tuesday.

Susana Chou, president of the Legislative Council, is scheduled to begin a four-day visit in Beijing on Wednesday, and meet with officials in charge of legislative affairs.

It will be her first visit in Beijing while acting as president of the legislature of the Macao SAR.

In order to have a better research on the current laws in the inland areas, she will collect more data from counterpart departments in Beijing, Chou said.

Early last year, she had a visit in Portugal together with the chief executive of the Macao SAR. The legislatures of the Macao SAR and Portugal agreed to strengthen the exchange of legal documents.

Chou said that the Macao Legislative Council will also enhance contact with legislative bodies in other countries and regions to draw on the legislative experience of others.
