Central Authorities' Suggestions on Rural Work
Xinhua released Monday the full text of suggestions made by the central committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council on rural and agricultural work for the year 2001.
The suggestions attach great importance to rural and agricultural work, saying that the backbone support role played by sound rural and agricultural work will provide an important guarantee for the smooth implementation of the nation's tenth five- year (2001--2001) plan for social and economic development.
The document urges all related departments to constantly enhance the fundamental status of agriculture, take effective measures to settle problems in the country's rural areas and ensure the sustained agricultural development, the increase of farmers' income and the social stability of rural China.
The suggestions are divided into ten parts, including the further promotion of agricultural restructuring and the speed-up[ of rural tax system reform.
