Software Industry Thriving in ZhejiangThe turnover of software enterprises in east China's Zhejiang Province topped 5.5 billion yuan last year, according to latest statistics. The province¡¯s software industry also generated over one billion yuan in profits and taxes last year.Chen Daxin, director of the Provincial Department of the Information Industry, said that some software products made in Zhejiang have broken into the markets of the US, Japan and other developed countries. Exports of such produihcts exceeded US$10 million last year. He added that Zhejiang leads other provinces in software products developed in such areas as hotel management, financial management, securities and finance, tax collection and management, and textile printing and dyeing CAD. The province has a lion's share of the domestic market of these software products. Zhejiang currently has 800 software enterprises employing 30£¬000 researchers. A number of enterprises including Hengsheng, Xinyada and Xinzhongda have grown into backbone ones in the software industry. Software parks have been built in the provincial capital of Hanzhou£¬the port city of Ningbo and Shaoxing. The Zhejiang Software Industry Association and the Zhejiang Software Assessment Center have been set up. The province has more than 6,000 information service enterprises,which had a total turnover of eight billion yuan in 2000. |
