Thai Security Helicopter for Danish Queen Crashes

An advance security helicopter escorting Danish Queen Margrethe II on her tour of northern Thailand crashed over the weekend, injuring two police officers on board, news reports said Monday.

The queen and her husband, Prince Henrik, were not on the aircraft that went down.

The Bell helicopter, with two pilots and seven policemen on board, was part on an advance security team that flew to Chom Thong, a small village in Chiang Mai province, where the queen was scheduled to visit community projects sponsored by Denmark, the Bangkok Post said.

The aircraft was forced Sunday to make an emergency landing in a jungle area near Chom Thong, injuring the two police officers who were later hospitalized.
