Taliban not to Hand Over bin Laden to Third CountryAfghanistan's Taliban authorities on Saturday denied reports that it was ready to hand over alleged international terrorist Osama bin Laden to stand trial in a third country."There is no change in our policy," Taliban Foreign Minister Wakil Ahmad Motawakil said in Kandahar, according to Afghan Islamic Press. Motawakil said that Taliban had not taken any decision to hand Osama bin Laden to a third country for trial. He reiterated that Taliban could not try Osama bin Laden on charges of terrorism "without evidence". The United States has accused Osama bin Laden of masterminded the blasts of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998. The UN Security Council last month imposed sanctions against Taliban for its refusal to expel Osama bin Laden. |
