Bomb Blast in Afghan Capital Injures Four People

A bomb exploded outside a government building in the Afghan capital of Kabul on Saturday, injuring at least four people, according to the ruling Taliban militia and hospital officials.

The blast, which occurred close to the municipality office in central Kabul at about 11:00am local time (06:30 GMT), damaged a wooden fence of a mosque being built near Zarnigar Park located on the way to a market, where many poor people buy food.

Four people including a woman were injured and rushed to hospitals nearby, said Taliban officials.

Taliban soldiers have cordoned off the area while workers started removing shattered pieces of wood from the site.

Taliban security officials blamed the blast on Afghan opposition leader Ahmad Shah Masood whose forces have been resisting the Islamic militia in his northeastern strongholds.

But no one has yet claimed responsibility for the explosion.
