10 Killed in Attack on Police Control Room in Kashmir
At least eight policemen, a militant and an unidentified person were killed in a suicide attack launched by militants on police control room (PCR) in Srinagar, capital of India-Controlled Kashmir, Friday evening, police said Saturday.
Six policemen were injured in the attack, inspector general of police, Kashmir, Ashok Bhan said, adding the 13-hour long operation at the control room complex at Batamaloo was nearing completion.
Bhan said that bodies of eight policemen, a militant and an unidentified person had been recovered so far. The unidentified body might be that of a militant, he added.
This is the first major attack by militant on police headquarters during the second extension of ceasefire in Kashmir.
