DPRK Leader Meets Chinese Delegation

General Secretary of the Workers' Party of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Il met on Friday with a delegation from the International Liaison Department of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) Central Committee.

At the meeting with the delegation led by the department's deputy head Wang Jiarui, Kim recalled his recent unofficial visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Jiang Zemin, who is also general secretary of the CPC.

Kim said he and Jiang had had an in-depth exchange of views on ways to further develop the relations between their two parties and countries, as well as on major international issues of common concern, and reached broad consensus.

Kim said he was convinced that the relations between the two parties and countries will further develop in the new century.

Kim once again invited Jiang and other top leaders of the CPC to visit the DPRK.

The Chinese delegation arrived in Pyongyang on Tuesday.
