Monthly Water Quality Report System in Force for Key River Valleys

From now on, Chinese civilians can get the information about the water quality of China's main rivers and lakes from the monthly Water Quality reports to be published in the media.

In recent years, the State Environmental Protection Administration has built 32 automatic water quality monitoring stations in valleys of the Songhuajiang, Liaohe, Haihe, Yellow, Huaihe, Yangtze and Pearl rivers, as well as Taihu, Chaohu and Dianchi lakes. Thus the water quality indexes including water temperature, dissolved oxygen, electric conductivity, and turbidity will be transmitted to the information center by satellite and then published after their collection and analysis.

It is said that the State Environmental Protection Administration will build 56 more world-level automatic water quality monitoring stations in valleys of China's main rivers and lakes during the 10th Five-year Plan period. By then, there will be altogether 98 automatic water quality monitoring stations in China, to ensure the real-time, continuous water quality monitoring and provide a scientific basis for improving water quality in China.
