Yao'an Economically Fast Recovered From Earthquake

From a restructuring of farm production according to market demand as having early vegetable species grown in winter and spring and the like there has brought Yao'an County in Yunnan a fast recovery of economy in spite of unexpected catastrophe of earthquake early last year. Statistics of the year showed that 4m yuan had accrued to local revenue and a growth of 100 yuan in people's per-capita income in the region. Party Publicity Chief Stresses Development of Internet News Service

Man With Gun Shot Outside White House in US Capital

The wounded man was Robert Pickett, a 47-year-old accountant who lived by himself in Evansville, Indiana State. Evansville police said Pickett did not have a criminal record. They said his father had filed a missing-person report on his son in 1993, but it was suspended when the son returned.

Lantern Festival Celebrated in Xinjiang

Celebrations were held for the Lantern Festival, also known as Yuanxiao Festival, across China on February 7, the 15th day of the first Chinese lunar month.
