Building Starts on Private Satellite Communications Network

The first province-wide satellite communications network owned by State Development Planning Commission (SDPC) is being built in Shandong Province by LangChao Qilu Software Co, according to local press Wednesday.

According to China Daily, the project, a private satellite network, is part of SDPC's nation-wide government-online program.

The network is to be the first to adopt the wireless satellite communication technology. Upon completion, it will enable voice messaging, and transmission of dynamic images.

"The satellite network will help promote government office automation," said an official from SDPC.
