Per Capita Arable Land Approaches International Alert Line

By 2030, China's population will be on to the climax of 1.6 billion while per capita water-resource and arable land will shrink to some 1760 cubic meters and 1.1 Mu respectively, all approaching towards the international alert line.

This is what has been dealt with in the eighth report about the national conditions released by a concerned research team with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

The report also pointed out that the effective way for alleviating the crucial situation is to resolutely improve the utility of the current water and land resources by make full use of the markets, both domestic and international.
