Enormous Taiwanese Investment Allured to Shenzhen

According to latest statistics, by the end of last year, more than 3,000 Taiwanese-invested firms with an total investment of 3.87 billion US dollars had settled in Shenzhen, a special economic zone in south China's Guangdong Province.

The statistics show Shenzhen has so far attracted about one seventh of the overall Taiwanese investment to the Chinese mainland.

In recent years, more and more Taiwanese hi-technology firms have turned their sights to the mainland market.

Following the two state-level hi-tech fairs held successfully in Shenzhen, an increasing number of Taiwanese hi-tech firms have moved their research and development bases to Shenzhen.

Last year, over 200 Taiwanese firms came to do business in Shenzhen with an aggregated investment of US$696 million, a sharp rise of 460 percent on a year-on-year basis.

At present, there are about 40 Taiwanese firms with an investment beyond 10 million US dollars each in Shenzhen.
