CAAC Lowers 'Added Fuel Price' RateThe Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has decided that beginning from February 6, the "added fuel price" rate for domestic airlines was lowered from not exceeding 20 percent of the published plane ticket price to not exceeding 14 percent.The decision was made in accordance with the linkage mechanism wherein domestic airline plane ticket price changes with aviation fuel price. The current domestic aircraft fuel price has reportedly dropped by 20 percent from November 1 last year. CAAC has decided that as of February 6, various air transport companies shall, for the time being, allow the plane ticket for economical cabin to float at the 14 percent rate published domestically on October 31, 2000, the stipulation on the float of plane ticket price at 15 percent rate shall be abolished accordingly on the same day; one-way ticket for economical cabin can float at most150 yuan. Prices for first-class and business cabins shall, based on the after-float plane ticket for economical cabin, be set in accordance with the respective 150 percent and 130 percent of the domestically published plane ticket for economical cabin; Tickets for children and infants shall be calculated on the basis of 50 percent and 10 percent of the floated ticket prices respectively.
