Storms Lash Scotland as Blackouts Hit

Power workers in Scotland are struggling to reconnect more than 11,000 homes without electricity, as winter storms continue to lash the country, a press report says Feb.7.

High winds and heavy snowfall has closed several main roads in Scotland and a train derailed this morning after a tree was blown on to the tracks.

A passenger ferry carrying 100 people was unable to dock in Aberdeen, prolonging its usual 12-hour journey to 40 hours.

Snowstorms and heavy rains claimed three lives yesterday in England, cutting power supplies and blocking roads.
