Selection Result of Top 10 Quality News Announced
The selection result of top 10 quality news of 2000 was recently announced in Beijing. This activity aims to review the major news and events happening in the field of quality and to strengthen the publicity on quality.
After the selection and voting by leaders and experts of relevant departments such as the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, State Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision, the All-China Journalists' Association, People's Daily and Xinhua News Agency, the top 10 quality news have come out as follows:
1. The nationwide united action against fake goods has achieved great success and is developing further in-depth. This "popularity project" has won extensive praises and enthusiastic support from the public as well as Chinese and foreign enterprises;
2. Major progress has been made in China's quality legal system construction since the new "Law on Product Quality" formally went into effect on September 1 last year;
3. Two quality and technical supervision law executors of Heilongjiang Province died as they encountered violence against law execution while investigating and dealing with indigenous oil refining;
4. The State promptly investigated and handled the rice mixed with mineral oil and thus effectively safeguarded the health and security of people;
5. As the issue concerning the quality of foreign products like Toshiba notebook computer was reported, Chinese consumers defended their interests in accordance with law;
6. As the case regarding cotton mixed with other substance in Daqiao Township of Weishi County in Henan Province was exposed, the State launched special action against counterfeit cotton;
7. Events of government functionaries shielding the manufacture and sales of fake goods occurred successively in Jiaokou Country of Shanxi Province and Tongguan County of Shaanxi Province, the responsible persons involved were severely punished;
8. The formal publication of the "Encyclopedia of Quality, Standardization and Measure" indicates that China has the most authoritative reference book in the quality and technical supervision field;
9. Jincheng Company claimed that "Wang Hai is suspected of extortion in his strike against fake goods", therefore the issue concerning how should non-governmental departments standardize their own behavior in the crackdown on counterfeit goods has sparked different comments;
10. China has new measures to protect national economic and cultural creams as the system for protecting products of the original production area has begun to be put into practice.
