Cai Qin's First Melodrama to Premiere at Beijing Poly TheatreWhile chatting online with Internet users of Sina.com, Cai Qin, known as one of the Taiwan "Ivy Singers", disclosed Monday Feb. 5 that her first melodrama "Angel-the Sleepless Night" would be on stage at Poly Theatre in Beijing on February 14, the Valentine's Day.
Since the 1990s, Cai Qin has been popular and well received by music fans on the mainland of China. Though having been on stage many times here, she never gave her personal concert or concert tour. Her latest presence was on CCTV on the evening of Spring Festival two weeks ago.
Her upcoming melodrama is said to be at the international level. Adapted from the movie called "the Nights of Cabiria", the masterpiece of Italian director Federico Fellini, the whole Chinese version was written in Broadway style and produced by Godot Theatre, a very famous art team in Taiwan. As reported, the melodrama has been made astir in ten successive scenes.
In particular, this is Cai's musical debut, which took her five years during which many other performances were canceled.
