212-Part China-made Cartoon to Be Published

The 212-part "Brothers Haier", the longest China-made cartoon, will be finished by June 1, 2001, the International Children's Day.

This cartoon was jointly produced by Haier Group, famous household electrical appliances producer, and Beijing Dongfang Hongye (autumnal maple leaves) Cartoon Group, China's biggest computer cartoon production base. It aims to blaze a trail for rejuvenating China's depressed cartoon industry.

This cartoon series, Brothers Haier, tells a mystical adventurous story about brothers Haier and their friends who, created by an intelligent old man, tour around the world in order to relieve humans of disasters and to solve endless riddles about nature. They start from the Pacific Ocean, cross North and South America, the South Pole, Australia, Africa, Europe and Asia, and then return to their birthplace the Pacific Ocean.

When referring to this gigant project, Liu Zuofeng, a famous Chinese cartoon director, claimed that if all sketch pictures were lined up into a gallery, they could reach as long as 1,000 kilometers.
