Research Institute on Famous Chinese Writer Founded

A literature and art research institute named after Feng Jichai, a well-known Chinese writer and artist based in north China's Tianjin, established Tianjing on Saturday.

Feng is appointed head of the institute, which is situated inside Tianjin University. Feng is also invited to be a professor with the university and the honorary president of the university's social sciences and foreign languages college.

The new institute, which will be an open establishment, will have buildings with a floor space totaling 2,000 square meters, including a museum of fine arts, a library, a conference room, andthree research offices.

The "Big Tree" Painting Gallery, owned by Feng Jicai, will be moved inside the campus of Tianjin University, said the local sources.

Relevant organizations which are responsible for constructing the institute are busy selecting the location and design of the institute. It is expected that the new institute will begin operation next year.
