U.S. Donates US$100,000 to Snow-Hit Inner Mongolia

The U.S. government Friday donated US$100,000 to the blizzard-hit areas in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

U.S. ambassador to China Joseph Prueher presented a cheque of 100,000 dollars to a representative of the Red Cross Society of China.

The donation was "a symbol of goodwill" of the United States to the snow-stricken victims and the Chinese people, Prueher said at a disaster relief contribution ceremony held at the embassy.

Earlier, the American Red Cross Society had donated US$50,000 for the disaster relief.

Blizzards, which hit Inner Mongolia in late December, have affected 1.6 million people and killed more than 220,000 head of livestock.
