In the mean time, users of mobile phone has increased to 85 million, half of whom were new customers last year. Figures from MII show mobile services has outgrown fixed-line services for the first time last year. Mobile service added 41 million users, fixed-line 35 million.

Competition between carriers also stimulates consumption, the report said. China Mobile's pre-pay services have secured nearly 20 percent of the mobile market as a whole. The "Ruyitong" pre-pay services also helped boost China Unicom's market share to 22 percent from 15 percent earlier last year.
