China debuts own mobile battery standards

Three mobile phone battery standards have been authorized for test of batteries, according to State Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision.

According to China Daily report, the three standards are for mobile cells of GB/T18287-2000 lithium ion, GB/T18288-2000 metal hydrides and GB/T18289-2000 cadmium-nickle.

The booming mobile phone market in China has blown up the battery accessory industry. However, the lack of standards in tests leaves loopholes for fake batteries, authorities said.
