China, Russia Trade Hits Record HighSino-Russian trade volume hit a record high in 2000 with US$8 billion, a 39.9 percent increase year-on-year, sources from China's foreign trade ministry said Thursday.Statistics released by the General Administration of Customs show that China's exports to Russia totaled US$2.23 billion last year, 49.2 percent up from 1999 and the highest since 1993. In addition to traditional export commodities including garments, shoes and food, China's exports of machinery and electric appliances increased by 73.2 percent last year to US$234 million. China's imports from Russia also reached a historic high last year with US$5.77 billion, 36.6 percent up from 1999. |
