Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Combats Counterfeit Money

Police in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region confiscated fake bank notes with a face value of some 1.86 million yuan (over US$224,000) last year.

With 124 counterfeit money-related cases handled, 92 out of the 178 suspects in the cases were announced guilty and received imprisonment sentences, sources from local police said.

Printing and selling counterfeit money has become a big problem in China as the crime has become more rampant in recent years.

China is combating such crimes by exerting severe punishments on making and sale of counterfeit money, confiscating individual properties and imposing heavy fines.
