Chinese Ambassador Confident of Prospect for Sino-US Ties

Outgoing Chinese Ambassador Li Zhaoxing said in Washington Monday that he was fully confident of the prospect for Sino-US relations, hoping that both countries would continue to further develop and strengthen the bilateral ties.

Addressing a farewell reception held at the Chinese Embassy in Washington, Li said he was happy that relations between China and the United States had really made headway in the past few years despite some difficulties and zigzags.

The ambassador, who is leaving his post for home on Tuesday, expressed thanks to American friends from various circles for their determined support to the friendship between China and the United States, and for their efforts devoted to the friendly cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including education, culture, economy, trade, law enforcement and military exchanges.

He said that the friendship between China and the United State is not only important and beneficial to each other but also conducive to the maintenance of world peace and common development of all countries.

"Looking ahead, I am fully confident of the prospect for our bilateral relations," Li said. "We are going to further develop and strengthen the mutually beneficial and important relationship between the two great countries: China and America."
