China's Subtropical Region Stages Ice Sculpture Show

Although ethnic people living in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, a subtropical region in southwest China, seldom have the chance to see snow, an ice

sculpture show arranged during the Spring Festival holiday has given them a glimpse into the ice world.

It is the first ice sculpture show in Liuzhou City in the region. More than 60 ice sculptures were on display including the theme works of "Great Wall", "Lute Player Image of Mogao Grotto"

and "the Sea World".

The show was arranged in an exhibiting hall with an interior temperature of minus 10 degrees Celsius.

Zhuang ethnic people can see the ice sculpture of their legendary heroine Liu Sanjie. Images with typical Zhuang ethnic characteristics, such as wooden corridor bridges and dragon boats,

featured among the ice carvings.

The show has received over 10,000 visitors since it opened on January 25.
