S. Leonean Refugees Return Home From GuineaAbout 850 Sierra Leonean refugees, assisted by two vessels belonging to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), returned home from Guinea this weekend, according to reports reaching Lagos on Saturday.The first vessel, which left Guinea's capital Conakry Friday night with 500 passengers, arrived in Sierra Leone's capital Freetown Saturday morning. The second vessel left for Freetown Saturday night with another 350 passengers. As a result, over 4,000 Sierra Leonean refugees have been repatriated since January 9. The IOM was founded in 1951 to help solve the problem of refugees in the aftermath of World War II. |
