Confucian Temple Greets Guests in Spring Drizzle

Nanjing residents visited Confucian Temple despite the spring drizzle on January 27. The temple was built in 1034 for the local people to pay their tributes to Confucius and has now become a commercial center.

India Fears 15,000 Dead in Quake, Urges Calm

Thousands of shocked survivors slept in the open rather than risk entering shelters on Sunday as rumors swept western India of more tremors after an earthquake in which 15,000 were feared dead. Indian women walk through the rubble of several destroyed houses in the western Indian village of Kabra, near Bhuj, on January 27, 2001, after a massive earthquake wreaked havoc across the region.
