Huqin Festival to Be Kicked off in HK

The Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra (HKCO) will kick off the "Huqin Festival of Hong Kong" in March to retrace the development path of the ancient Chinese musical instrument Huqin.

Featuring the world's finest huqin virtuosi, the festival will be supported with a spectrum of fringe activities and is expected to be a feast for music lovers.

The opening ceremony, "Music from a Thousand Strings", to be held on February 11, will feature 1,000 huqin players creating an overwhelming musical experience that would go down in the history of the genre.

The Huqin Festival comprising three different concert series will be kicked off by "A Hundred Years of Erhu" to be staged in March.

To bring the people of Hong Kong closer to the world of huqin, four seminars and four pre-concert talks hosted by various music virtuosi will be organized.
