High-Tech Index of Major Chinese Regions: Shandong
Xinhua is releasing dispatches on major economic indicators of ten major Chinese regions on a quarterly and annual basis.
The ten regions include
Guangdong
,
Jiangsu
,
Shandong
,
Zhejiang
,
Henan
,
Liaoning
,
Shanghai
,
Beijing
,
Tianjin
, and
Chongqing
. They make up the bulk of the Chinese economy.
The following is the latest development in the high-tech industry in Shandong Province, east China, in the year 2000:
Scientists and engineers in Shandong achieved a total of 3,728 major scientific and technological developments last year, 21 of which won national awards.
The high-tech development zones in the province reported a total revenue of 76 billion yuan (about US$9.15 billion) and a pre-tax profit of 6.8 billion yuan.
